By bus 980快(980) & Mi51 to Gubei Water Town:
(“980” runs from 5:50 to 21:00, at Dongzhimen bus station)
(“980快” runs from 6:00 to 20:00, at Dongzhimen bus station)

There are 2 types of 980: regular 980 and fast 980 (快). The regular one has many stops and the fast one will go straight on express way. Please make sure you will take fast 980 (快).
Please note that once you arrive at Miyun by 980, there will be many local drivers approaching you. They know you will go to the Great Wall either at Gubei Water Town, Jinshanling or Gubeikou and try to rip you off. It’s annoying and don’t speak a word to them.
Here as below is the regular 980(980慢), there are 35 stops before you reach station Miyun Xidaqiao/密云西大桥.
You will transfer to Mi (密) 51 from Miyun to Gubei Water Town, but 980 and Mi 51 are in different locations, very close though. Please find the route as below photo.

Timing of local buses
From Dongzhimen(东直门) to Miyun bus station(密云汽车站) by 980(快): about 2 hours。
From Miyun bus station(密云汽车站) to Gubeikou Village（古北口镇北台站） by Mi (密) 51: about 2-2.5hours.
Given the waiting and transferring time, the total time on the way will take up to 5 hours.
The 980 plus Mi 51 transportation is listed on Lonely Planet and other guide books, but not recommended as it's time-consuming.
